A FATHER from Milford Haven who was told to ‘lose weight or lose his job’ will be raising money for a charity that offers comfort, care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families this weekend.

Last November, weighing in at just over 16 stone, 55-year-old John Smith decided to quit the couch and lace up his trainers, in a bid to get fit and lose weight.

Having lost almost four stone so far, this Sunday he will be taking part in Ty Hafan’s 5k ‘Rainbow Run’ on Pendine Sands, accompanied by his daughter Debbie, aged 30.

“I am unbelievably proud of what my dad has overcome and achieved,” said Debbie.

“This hasn't been easy for him yet he has never given up.

“His determination, motivation and strength has been inspirational not only to myself but to others.

“Crossing the finish line with my dad is going to be a proud moment for me and I know it will be for him too.”

The pair hope to raise £500 between them by completing the run, and thanked all their friends, colleagues and family members who have supported them this far.
