A SKATEBOARDING ramp, a graffiti wall and a place to 'chill' were top of the shopping list at a recent meeting of Neyland Town Council.

The council has set its heart on a range of new equipment for the play park between Harbour Close and Victoria Court, and now needs to raise the funds to pay for it.

After looking at several quotes, it was decided that the young people of Neyland would enjoy skateboarding equipment and somewhere to sit and chat when the weather is wet.

It was also considered that a graffiti and football wall would go down well with local youngsters.

"There are a lot of young people in Neyland who love skateboarding and they have nowhere to go unless they can travel to Haverfordwest or further afield," said town mayor Cllr Margaret Brace.

"We also thought that the teen shelter would go down well when the weather is not good enough to play on the grass and the wall so that the youngsters have somewhere to express themselves and to have a kick-about with a football’ she added.

Phase one of the play park was completed and installed in April 2014 and it is hoped to complete the second phase by April 2016.

"Our only problem now is raising the money to buy these items, so we are looking for sponsors who would be willing to help us out," said Cllr Brace.

"We would be delighted if someone offered to build us the graffiti wall, for example, and we could just pay for the materials.

"This is an exciting new project for the town council as we think the precept should be spent to make Neyland a better place to live for everyone.

"If anyone can offer us any financial assistance at all we would be very grateful and all donations would be publicised at the opening of the new park."
