A DALE pub has been shortlisted for a prize at the second annual Food Awards Wales.

Members of the public nominated The Griffin for the ‘Best Seafood Establishment’ category, and the pub’s owners and staff will find out tonight (April 18) if they will be crowned winners at a glamorous ceremony in Cardiff.

The black tie event will be hosted by Capital 1’s breakfast presenter, Polly James.

"We are absolutely delighted and excited to be a finalist for this prestigious award,” said The Griffin’s Sian Mathias.

“To gain this nationwide recognition for our seafood has made all our hard work and dedication over the past six years worthwhile.

"We would like to thank our amazing staff and special thanks to Mark, who goes out in all weathers on our boat the 'Griffin Girl' to land the freshest catch for you all to enjoy!”

The awards aim to recognise the hard work and efforts of the Welsh food industry. Tonight’s event will also help raise funds for Make A Wish Foundation UK, a charity that grants wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
