LOCAL MP Stephen Crabb has resigned as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions 'in the best interests of his family'.
The Preseli Pembrokeshire MP was the former Secretary of State for Wales between 2014 and April of this year, before becoming Work and Pensions Secretary under David Cameron.
Mr Crabb had entered the race to become the new Prime Minister, but withdrew after the first vote.
Theresa May became Prime Minister yesterday (Wednesday) after Mr Cameron announced his decision to resign after losing the 'Brexit' vote.
The new Prime Minister has worked quickly to appoint her new cabinet, with Phillip Hammond becoming Chancellor and Boris Johnson Foreign Secretary.
High profile Conservatives have lost their place in the cabinet, as former Chancellor George Osbourne and former Justice Secretary Michael Gove have both been axed.
Mr Crabb arrived at 10 Downing Street before lunch as the reshuffle continued.
Mr Crabb said: "Over the last two years I have had the huge privilege to serve in the Cabinet.
"After careful reflection I have informed the prime minister today that, in the best interests of my family, I cannot be part of her government at this time.
"I am grateful to my whole team for their hard work and encouragement. I look forward to supporting the government's one nation vision from the backbenches."
Mr Crabb's decision to resign follows national newspaper allegations that the married father to two had been sending sexually suggestive messages to a young woman.
Twitter reactions:
Very sad to see @scrabbmp leaving government. His appointment to DWP was an inspired choice and he's a tremendous talent.

Stephen Crabb resigns from Govt "in the best interests of my family", after his sexting scandal of last week. He'll be back though.
