A PENSIONER from Milford Haven has been recognised for her years of service to the police.

Seventy-four-year-old Anita Wheeler of Hanover Court, was presented with a long service certificate and brooch at an award ceremony at Dyfed-Powys Police headquarters.

Anita has been working with the force as a volunteer for almost 14 years.

Since February 2012 she has worked in the Neighbourhood Policing Office at Milford Haven, also covering on the front desk when necessary.

She has undertaken Neighbourhood Watch telephone calls, key holder lists for businesses and community premises, plus monthly calls to all industrial businesses in the Milford Haven area.

Before that, she worked for nine years on the front desk at Neyland Police Station.

Chief Inspector Angela Reed said: “Anita is a highly-valued volunteer and a well-regarded part of our policing team in Milford Haven. I’m delighted she has received this award.

"She has shown real commitment to Dyfed-Powys Police and this long-service award recognises her ongoing support.”
