MILFORD MMA fighter David ‘one more’ Round returns to the cage this Saturday when he takes on fellow countryman Jordan James for the Welsh BUDO Welterweight (170 lbs) title in Swansea.

The 30-year-old, who had originally labelled this his ‘retirement’ fight before scheduling more bouts for late 2016 and 2017, said he was in good shape and looking forward to the clash.

“I’m always confident and now I just have to do the job on the night,” he said.

“I’ve never fought Jordan but I know a bit about him. He’s a lot smaller than me and likes to stand up and box - and it will be a good contest.”

Round has based his recent training at the Fight Factory in Gloucester, with sparring partners Sam Clark and John Pitman, and said he was fully focused after announcing his intentions to reverse his retirement.

“I meant it at the time when I said this would be my last fight - I was going through some personal things and felt like I didn’t want to carry on.

“But now my head is in the right place and I’ve got the bug back.”

So it seems, with Round scheduled to fight in Sweden next month, and Belgium in November - with further plans to compete as far afield as Italy and China next year.

The fight on Saturday takes place in James’ home city, but around 60 friends and family members have brought tickets to support Round - although the Neyland RFC player is remaining tight lipped as to whether he will be producing one of his trademark special entrances before the fight.

“I have something in mind but you’ll all have to wait and see,” he said.

The event, dubbed BUDO Fighting Championships 16, takes place at Swansea Leisure Centre.

Round wanted to thank sponsors LPA Impact, Granicol Ltd, Bad Boy Supplements, L Greggain & Co Ltd, Steve Evans at Studio 9 Custom Tattoo, Training Mask, Matthews Brothers, Bear Hug Sports Ltd, The Astoria and Link Taxis.
