AROUND £225 was raised in aid of Breast Cancer Care through a 'hug a pug' event in Milford Haven last week.

Two shopkeepers, Lynne Turner of Snapdragon, and Stephanie Cross of Haven Emporio, came up with the fundraiser to raise money for charity.

Customers paid to “cwtch” pooches Gracie and Ernie, and took part in a raffle.

A 'guess the dog's favourite toy' game will continue to run throughout this month, just pop into Charles Street to take part.

October is national breast cancer awareness month.

Around 60,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and regular breast checks are encouraged to help catch cancer early.

Signs can include a change in size or shape of the breast, a lump or thickening that feels different from the rest of the breast tissue, redness or a rash on the skin or around the nipple, or change in skin texture such as puckering or dimpling.

Symptoms can also include discharge (liquid) that comes from the nipple without squeezing, a swelling in your armpit or around your collarbone, and constant pain in your breast or your armpit.
