South Wales Women’s Hockey League Division 2:
Cardiff Met 3rds 1
Milford Haven 2

UNLIKE the Welsh rugby team, Milford Haven Ladies hockey team had a good day in the capital on Saturday as they returned to Milford Haven after a great win at Cardiff Met.

Crucial goals in each half by in form striker Elyse Morgan gave the visitors the three points, putting them second in the table and just a point behind league leaders Abergavenny Ladies.

In a highly competitive and intense game, both sides looked dangerous in attack as they moved the ball well and created good chances.

It was the visitors that broke the deadlock midway through the first half when Morgan was first to react to the rebound from a Rachel Coe strike, and made no mistake from close range.

Then some good saves late in the half by stand-in keeper Meg Evans made sure the visitors went into the break with the advantage.

Cardiff Met struck back early in the second half through a rare Milford defensive error, but the visitors reacted well and kept their composure.

After several counter attacks that Milford frustratingly failed to convert - Morgan was on target again and after a well worked move, slotted home the goal that turned out to be the match winner.

It capped another great display by the whole Milford, leaving captain Emma Summons happy with the result and display.

“We are delighted to pick up the three points away from home against a well drilled Cardiff and Met side.
“The girls put in a solid performance and we got the result we wanted.”
Milford were sponsored on Saturday by Meal Machine - and there next game is home to Gwent this Saturday, 12pm pushback.
