A SWAN was discovered covered in fuel on a Milford Haven beach.

All Pets Vet Care took care of the bird, brought into their Milford Haven practice yesterday, and spent the afternoon cleaning it.

"We urge any dog walkers to be careful around this area as fuel can be very harmful to them," said the practice.

"We would also like locals to keep an eye out as this swan's mate should be around the area and could also be covered in fuel."

If you spot a swan in the area, contact 01646 663883.

RSPCA officer Keith Hogben said individuals should not attempt to wash animals or birds themselves.

"Oil and fuel need specialist washing products to remove them properly, and require specialist treatment.

"If you see a bird in distress, don't pick them up or touch them, jot down the location and contact the RSPCA."
