LANDLORDS from Milford Haven have met with an "inspirational" man who is calling time on violent crime.

Around 45 people attended an event at the Lord Nelson Hotel, where they heard from Paul Pugh, who was viciously attacked on a night out almost ten years ago.

Four men were jailed following the attack, which took place outside a pub in Ammanford in 2007, and left Paul in a coma for two months.

During his visit to Milford Haven, Paul spoke to the crowd about how his life has been affected since the attack, and his steps to recovery.

"Doing these talks are exhausting but seeing people's response makes it all worth it,” said Paul, who launched a campaign called Paul's Pledge, designed to encourage people to limit how much they drink on a night out.

"People who have had too much to drink are not only a danger to themselves but also a danger to others which is exactly what happened in my case,” he said.

Paul also wanted to remind licensees of their responsibilities when serving people when they are drunk.

Said Milford Haven PCSO Laura Galdo: “Paul is a wonderful man, and it is very inspiring to see a person so determined to work hard at his therapy and make a good recovery.

"I was very overwhelmed to meet him and I know that I wasn’t the only one to feel like that."

Paul’s Pledge asks people to vow to never condone violent behaviour, to walk away from aggression and violence and encourage friends and family to do the same.
