THOSE asking for your vote in Milford Haven, Neyland and the surrounding areas have now been confirmed.

The deadline for nominations for Pembrokeshire County Council elections was Tuesday and all candidates for the 60 seats covering the county were declared.

Of the 60 there are 13 seats which will see councillors reinstated unopposed, including Milford East where Welsh Labour’s Guy Woodham will take up the position once again.

St Ishmaels’ Reg Owen, who was a member of the ruling Independent Plus Group (IPG), also retakes his constituency unopposed.

Other uncontested seats are Burton, Cligerran, Clydau, Haverfordwest: Priory, Lampeter Velfrey, Llangwm, Manorbier, Narberth Rural, Newport, Tenby: North and Tenby: South.

Milford Haven Central ward has five candidates, including Stephen Joseph who was the previous ward councillor. Standing against him are Meurig Caffery, an independent candidate; Charles Davies for Welsh Labour; Tony Miles for Welsh Conservatives and another independent, Lynne Turner.

In Milford Haven North Colin Sharp is standing against Welsh Conservative Stanley Hudson.

In the town’s West ward Welsh Labour’s Yvonne Southwell is standing against incumbant Plaid Cymru candidate Rhys Sinnett and Carol Stevens.

In Hakin William Elliott, John Thrower (Welsh Labour, David Warrell (independent) and Rhys Williams (independent) are standing against long standing unaffiliated councillor Mike Stoddart.

Hubberston’s incumbent Viv Stoddart will go up against Alun Byrne for Welsh Labour and Rose Gray.

In Neyland IPG councillor Simon Hancock is standing as independent against Plaid Cymru’s Aelwen Lee.

In the town’s west ward Welsh Labour’s Paul Miller faces Brian Rothero.

Johnston’s IPG councillor Ken Rowlands has two opponents, Rhys Evans (Welsh Labour) and Phillip Hart.
