STORIES written by pupils from Milford Haven, Neyland and St Ishmaels have been published in a special book.

Dragon LNG was delighted to visit six local primary schools to present a number of pupils with an anthology of short stories that they had written themselves.

The 26 pupils, from the Milford Haven Cluster of schools - Neyland Junior School, Coastlands CP School, St Francis School, Hakin Community School and Hubberston VC School – participated in a week-long writing workshop, funded by Dragon LNG, with well-known writers ‘The Two Steves’.

Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore are former school teachers turned writers who engage the children in interactive workshops aimed at increasing their understanding and attainment in literacy. The anthology was a collection of their completed work.

Karen Wood, PR Manager for Dragon LNG, said:“It was great to be able to witness the start of the workshop, seeing ‘The Two Steves’ in action.

"They interact well with the children and it was a pleasure to read the finished stories.

"The feedback we had from the schools and pupils was fantastic, with the youngsters no longer being afraid to give story writing a go.’

All of the young people who attended the sessions said that their confidence in writing short stories had improved, whilst the teachers agreed that there were different teaching methods that they had seen during the week that they could use themselves back in school.
