A Pembroke man has appeared in court today (Friday) charged with a new offence of “coercion within a domestic setting.”

Lewis Laville, aged 22, arrived at Swansea crown court in a wheelchair for a plea and trial preparation hearing before Judge Geraint Walters.

Laville, of Powell Close, is accused of “controlling or coercive” behaviour towards Victoria Bendle.

He is also charged with assaulting her on five separate occasions, each time causing her actual bodily harm.

Laville, who entered pleas of not guilty to all the charges, is also accused of destroying £14.99 worth of clothing belonging to Miss Bendle.

Laville was granted bail until the start of a two day trial on September 19.
