A delicious afternoon was held recently raising money for a farming charity.

Bill and Liz Reed laid on afternoon tea at their Upper Scolton Farm in Spittal to raise money for farmers in financial difficulty supported by the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).

The event – the first of the year for the Pembrokeshire Ladies, who raised more than £11k for farming charity RABI last year – was a complete sell-out.

The RABI is farming’s oldest and largest welfare charity, giving out grants of around £2million each year in Wales and England.

Much of the charity’s funding comes from public donations, events arranged by its 54 regional county committees and support from businesses and community groups.

Last year the organisation gave out more than £26,000 just in Pembrokeshire.

Guests attending the afternoon tea were served Pimms on arrival in the glorious Pembrokeshire sunshine before feasting on a variety of sandwiches and homemade cakes.

Helen Williams, Pembrokeshire Ladies chair, said: “I’d like to thank our dedicated and loyal supporters for their kindness and generosity in attending the event, as well as the committee members who worked extremely hard to put on a sociable and fun-filled event.”

The event raised £833.74 to help farming families in Pembrokeshire.
