A FABULOUS flamingo will take flight from the Cleddau Bridge on August 19.

Alex Kirk from Neyland will be flutter his feathers as part of the Bungee off the Bridge event, to raise money for the National Literacy Trust.

The 24-year-old, who works at Boots opticians, explained why he chose to dress as a pink flamingo for the jump: "The flamingo is a character from Zoe the Zookeeper - a book designed to help parents and children with any sight troubles that may be present at a young age.

"At Boots, we work very closely with the National Literacy Trust, and I have learnt a lot about the cause over the past few months.

"I have helped do many activities to support it, including raising awareness at Anna's Welsh Zoo and celebrating World Book Day."

Added Alex: "One person in six in the UK lives with poor literacy, adults and children.

"This can hold them back at every stage of their life.

"The more money and awareness I can raise the better."

Alex hopes to raise £300, and is currently half-way towards his total.
