THE village of Johnston now has two life-saving defibrillators, thanks to local businesses.

The community council recently hosted a public event at the Johnston Institute to receive delivery of two defibrillators for public community use in the village.

Each defibrillator cost £1,350 to supply; one was generously funded by K.O. Carpets of Johnston, and the second jointly by The Meadows Nursing Home and Fairfield Nursing Home.

The defibrillators were supplied by Llanelli-based charity CARIAD, which specialises in the supply and maintenance of defibrillators for schools and communities.

The handover event included a training session to demonstrate the correct use of the units for the benefit of those present. A cheque for £2,700 was presented to the charity Cariad on behalf of the Johnston Community Council
