FOLLOWING the resignation of one of its newest councillors, a space on Neyland Town Council is now empty.

On Monday, September 11, the council posted a notice of the vacancy on its Facebook page.

The announcement follows the resignation of East Ward councillor Tamsin Llewellyn, who joined the council in May, earning 258 votes.

Ms Llewellyn was one of five councillors to raise concerns about the council's plans to partner with Neyland CIC in its redevelopment of Neyland Athletic Club.

Despite these concerns, the council voted to continue with the plans at its meeting on September 4, after being warned by a solicitor that failing to do so could result in legal action.

If anyone fancies the chance to work on behalf of the people of town, and take part in monthly meetings, they should contact the clerk Jane Clark on 01646 602 873 or by emailing townclerk@neyland.org.uk

If locals want to call an election, ten voters living in the East Ward must write to the Returning Officer, Pembrokeshire County Council, Cherry Grove, Haverfordwest, SA61 2NW, to hold an election to fill the vacancy.

This must happen within 14 days, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays.

If no request for an election is received, Neyland Town Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.
