THE title of British Young Collector of the Year was recently awarded in London to Carys Llewellyn from Tasker Milward Comprehensive School.

Her stamp collecting interest started in Neyland Community School Stamp Club where Carys began entering stamp competitions.

She has won many trophies and recently attained the highest mark in the British Youth Stamp Championships for the third year running, for which she has been awarded £100 each year.

As Collector of the Year, Carys also received a Penny Black, the first stamp in the world, on its original letter sent in the mid 19th century.

John Davies, chairman of Stamp Active, said: "Carys has been a wonderful ambassador for the hobby, and she has built up a fine collection."

The Stamp Active organisation runs a free postal stamp club for young collectors and advice for schools, visit stampactive.co.uk for details of how to join.
