NEYLAND and Haverfordwest Judo club members Ashleigh Barnikel and Jonathan Wood recently travelled to Sheffield to compete in the British Schools Championships.
Jonathan won two of four fights, narrowly missing out on a bronze medal but producing one of the best throws of the day.
Ashleigh showed great character and a range of skills to defeat her opponents to take the gold medal.
Both players train several times a week and compete regularly.
In the coming weeks, 20 members of the club will be visiting Sanguinet in southern France to train with their twinned club.
Ria and Mathew will also be competing in high Wycombe while Barry will be competing in the European Masters tournament being held in Glasgow in May.
