Hywel Dda University Health Board has refuted rumours that the outpatients department had to close due to a sewage spill on Thursday but has confirmed that this was the case in the WRVS shop.

Talk on social media on Thursday referred to sewage running down walls and cancelled outpatients' clinics.

A spokesman for the health board confirmed that on Thursday, due to blocked sewerage pipes, part of the hospital's outpatients department had to temporarily relocate but said clinics had not been cancelled.

"No outpatient clinics or appointments were cancelled and the problem was resolved by early afternoon," said the spokesman. "We'd like to reassure our patients that all affected areas were deep cleaned and the department was fully open on Friday."

The spokesman confirmed that a sewage leak had affected the walls of the WRVS shop and that the area had also undergone a deep clean prior to reopening.
