A HAKIN teenager is taking part in the ‘world’s biggest coffee morning’ to raise money in memory of her granddad.

Thirteen-year-old Georgia Adams has organised the event as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’ s annual fundraiser, which last year raised an amazing £20million for the charity.

Helped by her dad David, budding baker Georgia has organised the event down to a tee, and is inviting locals to come for a slice of the action.

“By holding this event I want it make my family very proud of me, plus the community will benefit by having a cup of coffee or tea with a very tasty piece of cake, knowing then money they donate will go to a good cause,” said Georgia.

“I have planned out the whole morning down to the very last detail and chosen the cakes I want to bake.

“People should definitely come to my coffee morning because it’s a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, make new ones and to indulge themselves with yummy cake!”

As well as a range of delicious homemade cakes, there will also be gifts for sale, a jumble sale, and various raffles and competitions.

Georgia said she hoped the event would raise lots of money for charity.

“I want to raise as much money as I can, so that people who have cancer can have as much support as they can get from such a great charity.

“My granddad suffered with this illness and I wanted to do something in his memory.”

Susan Morris, General Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support in Wales, said: “Sadly, every year nearly 18,000 people in Wales hear the devastating news that they have cancer. This means Macmillan’s support for people diagnosed with and living with cancer is in more demand than ever.

“Every pound raised by those taking part in events like World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will help us fund our vital services and help people affected by cancer to cope with the impact of their diagnosis.”

Georgia’s coffee morning takes place at the The Church Of the Holy Spirit, Hakin, on Saturday, September 27, between 10am and 12pm.
