One hundred vintage, post-war and classic motorcycles and three-wheelers took to the roads and lanes of Pembrokeshire at the weekend for the 59th Saundersfoot Run.

Organised by the west south Wales section of the Vintage Motorcycle Club, the popular event attracted a large contingent of local enthusiasts, as well as riders from as far afield as the west of Ireland, Northumberland, the Isle of Wight and Sussex.

The honour of flagging the riders off for their 85-mile road trial on Saturday morning was given to Saundesfoot Community Council chairman, Huw Morris and D-Day veteran Gordon Prime, aged 90, of Jameston, who was a motorcycle dispatch rider with the Royal Army Service Corps.

The riders were based at the Merlewood House Hotel, Saundersfoot and enjoyed social runs on both Friday and Sunday.

The oldest motorcycle taking part was a 1921 Triumph, ridden by Aled Rees of Crymych, while the 1959 Royal Enfield of Ieuan and Doreen Davies of Newcastle Emlyn was judged the best entry from the west south Wales section.

Pembrokeshire award winners were: best vintage - Simon Hodges, Jeffreyston (1924 Triumph); runner-up - Aled Rees, Crymych (1921 Triumph). Post-war/classic - Mark Chesterton, Saundersfoot (Suzuki 1975); runner-up - Mike Simon, Saunders foot (BSA 1958). Post vintage - Alistair Devall, Reynalton (1935 Norton).
