An 11-year-old Pembroke Dock singing sensation is hoping to raise £200 for today's Children in Need through sales of a performance of the famous hymn Hallelujah.

Pembroke Dock Community School pupil Connor Rhys Adams, 11, aims to raise the money through sales of CDs and an online recording.

Proud mum and dad Stuart and Zoe Adams said music is in the family blood; Connor’s granddad Robin Wright of Broadmoor has been a regular on the Tenby and district circuit for many years.

Stuart, a groundskeeper at Tenby Golf Club, said the “Eureka” came when Connor and a friend Ellie Davies performed the hymn Hallelujah at a church Christmas play.

“That was the first moment that my wife and I were completely blown away by just how good his singing voice was,” he said.

Connor was later asked to perform Hallelujah at the funeral of his mum’s nan Letisha Edwards, which was recorded onto CD.

That recording led to the idea for helping Children in Need.

It was thought a few CDs might be made, with Connor singing at some of his granddad’s venues to raise his profile but the response was far better.

“It all started on October 28 at the Clarence hotel in Tenby.

“About 9pm Connor stood forward to the mic, and sang the best rendition of Hallelujah that I’d ever heard,” said Stuart.

CD sales have now hit £100. Connor now has a website, connoradamsmusic.co.uk where Hallelujah MP3s.

All money raised is going to Children in Need. CDs are available from Stuart on 07875348403.
