A super-sized Snoopy will make somebody’s Christmas extra special thanks to a raffle organised by Fishguard’s Edelweiss Antiques.
After years spent abandoned in an attic the 4’6” Snoopy is currently the star of the shop’s Christmas window.
“He is amazing,” said owner Vicky Gwilliam. “I have received lots of requests to buy him, but decided that a raffle for charity is the right way to go.”
The vintage Snoopy was won in a Radio Sheffield raffle 40 years ago by Vicky’s best friend. He was left languishing in the loft for decades until Vicky bought him earlier this month.
“Since I put him in the window he has created such a stir,” said Vicky. “He is in excellent condition. I can’t price him. I think he must be worth around four figures, but to a dedicated Snoopy collector he would be priceless.”
Funds raised by the raffle will be split between three charities; the NSPCC, Age Concern and Shelter.
“At this time of goodwill to all men, I want to do a positive thing to support deserving charities,” said Vicky.
“I think particularly at this time of year old people are vulnerable, as are the homeless, so that’s why we chose Age Concern and Shelter.
“There are kids who aren’t as lucky as others and that’s why we chose the NSPCC.”
Raffle tickets cost £1 each and are available from Edelweiss Antiques. They can also be bought (via PayPal if required) through the shop’s Facebook page. The raffle will be drawn at Edelweiss Antiques on Saturday, December 20th.
