Pensioners in Milford Haven got an early taste of Christmas last weekend at a special festive lunch.

The OAPs were treated to a three-course Christmas meal courtesy of a group of local youngsters.

The free Christmas lunch was organised by members of Milford Haven Youth Council.

The youngsters raised funds and also approached local businesses for support to put on the annual festive treat.

Christmas cakes and crackers were prepared beforehand while Christmas hampers were put up for raffle.

On the day the young people helped prepare the food and waited on 60 of their elderly neighbours at table.

Pembrokeshire County Council Youth Worker Nick Hudd said the young people had put in a lot of effort to ensure the pensioners had a good time.

“This was the second year that we have run this festive event, which is part of a wider project to bridge the gap between young and old in the community,” he said.

“We also had a lot of support from Tesco, which helped with funding towards goods and also sent some staff on the day to physically help us out.

“The whole event was a wonderful example of Christmas spirit.”
