THE Welsh Liberal Democrats have selected Selwyn Runnett to represent the party in Carmarthen West & South Pembrokeshire for the forthcoming general election.

Selwyn Runnett is a respected local property professional and a director within a family-owned local lettings agency.

Following his selection, Selwyn said: “I’m delighted to have been chosen by local Liberal Democrats to contest the Carmarthen West & South Pembrokeshire seat in the forthcoming general election. Our area needs a strong voice in the House of Commons and I’m confident that I can be that voice.

"I’m a Welsh Liberal Democrat because I believe not just in a stronger economy, but also a fairer society too. The choice in this Election is clear: Labour will borrow too much, risking the economy. The Tories will cut too much, threatening public services. Plaid Cymru and the other parties have yet to say how they will tackle the economic problems facing the country.

“The Liberal Democrats will balance the budget, cut taxes for low and middle earners and ensure decent public services. We are the Party of opportunity for everyone."

Selwyn lives in Meidrim, Carmarthenshire and works from offices in both Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire.

He is chair of the Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire Liberal Democrats, is active within the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) locally and is a lay preacher.

Mr Runnett previously stood for the area in the 2011 Assembly elections, where he came in fourth to Angela Burns AM.
