A Wolfscastle man has today admitted being a Mr Big in a large scale cannabis running operation.

Michael Broome, aged 30, also admitted preparing to deal in cocaine.

Broome appeared alongside three other men and a woman before Judge Paul Thomas at Swansea crown court for a plea and case management hearing.

Broome, Steven Broome, 29, of Renhon Road, Oxley, Wolverhampton, Ashley Brown, 25, of St Anne Road, Fordhouses, Wolverhampton, and Michael Thomas, of Compton, Wolverhampton, all admitted conspiring to supply cannabis between February 1, 2012 and April 10, 2013.

Brown’s sister, Jade Brown, aged 23, also of St Anne Road, Fordhouses, denied the conspiracy charge and her plea was accepted.

All five denied conspiring to supply cocaine during the same dates. But Michael Broome admitted possessing more than 12 grams of cocaine on April 9, 2013, with intent to supply.

Robin Rouch, prosecuting, said all the pleas were acceptable to the Crown Prosecution Service.

He said much of the evidence consisted of telephone text messages, nearly all of which related to cannabis.

Michael Broome and Ashley Brown had been the “principals” in the operation, he added, which involved “a large amount” of cannabis.

Steven Broome had been involved in transporting money and Thomas in moving some of the cannabis.

Judge Thomas said the “hierarchy” of the team appeared to have been established.

All four will be sentenced on February 26 after probation officers had prepared reports into their backgrounds.

A Proceeds of Crime investigation will begin soon afterwards to determine what profits had been made and how much could be confiscated.

All the defendants were granted bail meanwhile.
