A CHEQUE for £511 has been presented to the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru, in memory of a legendary Welsh rugby coach.

Ray Williams OBE made a name for himself by revolutionising the way rugby football was played throughout the world.

He went on to become secretary of the Welsh Rugby Union and was Tournament Director of the 1991 Rugby World Cup but still found time to support many charitable organisations.

Having retired to Haverfordwest in 2008, and following his death in December 2014, charitable donations which were made in his memory have been presented to his favourite charities.

Judith Griffiths, Ray’s daughter, recently presented a cheque to John Daniels, secretary of Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru and a trustee of Prostate Cymru.

With 2,500 Welsh men being diagnosed with the disease each year, of which 550 die, Ray had a long association with Prostate Cymru and was Senior Ambassador for the main charity in Wales as well as being the founder chairman of Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru.
