A PEMBROKE couple are appealing for help after their beloved pet tortoise suffered appalling injuries when it was partially eaten by a rat.

Owners Dale Sinclair-Jones and Linzi James of Whitehall Avenue need help for a series of operations for 90-year-old tortoise, Mrs T.

A rat had tried to eat one of her back legs and has completely eaten her two front legs to the elbow joint, which will have to be amputated.

Poor little Mrs T also has her own Facebook page, Save Mrs T, which states: “I am 90 years old and went to sleep last October.

"I woke up with a hungry rat eating my legs. I feel great and don’t want to leave this world yet. Please help me move around so I can live another 80 years.”

Linzi said: “This past winter Mrs T had to endure something so horrific that we still can’t believe she is still giving it the big fight. Her fight started when we spotted her in the garden. She should have been sleeping in her lovely safe house but something had woke her up.

“When Dale brought her inside he saw that a hungry rat had started to eat three of her legs, a freak accident that nobody could see coming.

“ Dale and Linzi are appealing for help in covering Mrs T’s operations through an online Paypal account, with any excess funds going to the Tortoise Association.

“This is not a charity; just an appeal as sadly her vets bills are going to be massive,” said Linzi.

“There is a cheaper version; we could put her to sleep. Until she gives up we don’t want to.”

The Paypal account can be found on the Save Mrs T Facebook page.
