MILFORD Haven Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets are looking for your help to be in with a chance of winning £10,000.

The group has been nominated for the Aviva Community Fund, but needs as many votes as possible if it is to win the money, which will fund a much-needed replacement minibus for the unit.

The group’s current minibus is 12 years old, and repeated breakdowns have impacted on local cadets, making it harder for them to take part in training events and competitions outside the county.

“We have existed in Milford Haven since 1942 and through this time have trained, development and mentored hundreds of Cadets,” the group’s appeal says.

“Without being able to access a wide array of training across Wales and the UK as a whole, the full Cadet experience becomes watered down and they don't get the most of it.

“A new minibus will ensure that we continue to meet this for the good of our young people.”

The unit is made up of three sections: Sea Cadets (aged 12 to 18 years of age), Junior Sea Cadets (10 to 12 years of age) and Royal Marines Cadets (aged 13 to 18 years of age).

The Cadets provides nautical experiences to young people through adventure and fun, with the aim of helping them become develop their potential, and improve their prospects.
