THE Newport home of the Bluestone Brewing Company has undergone some dramatic changes over the past few months.

Local tradesmen have worked exceptionally hard to transform the farm building at Tyriet to include an attractive bar area with shop, an outdoor seated area and a stage.

The work was in preparation for the official opening of the new visitor centre and music venue, which took place on Saturday, June 20.

The day saw families pour through the gates to explore the new facilities and sample a selection of real ales. It was followed by an evening of performances by Haverfordwest Male Voice Choir and Memphis Belle, which was attended by more than 150 people.

The visitor centre and music venue were funded by a grant from the Coastal Communities Fund.

A short film has been created to explain the brewing process, capturing the history of home brewing within the Gwaun valley, and also a short explanation of how the famous Bluestone Rock has not only played an important role in ancient history, but is still used as a modern day building material.

More public events are in the pipeline. To keep up to date with what is going on at Bluestone Brewery, visit the website www.bluestonebrewing.co.uk or follow them on Twitter and Facebook.
