THERE was fun for all the family on Saturday as Goodwick Parrog hosted Fishguard and District Round Table’s annual raft race.

The crowds were treated to live music, as well as the sand castle and tug of war competitions, where the Sea Cadets took on the Army Cadets, and the Round Table Fishguard and Goodwick RFC.

They also saw the start of the Dinas Head Challenge, which saw Celtic long boat teams race each other to Newport.

The sea swim followed, with Carys James the first out of the water in just over 33 minutes.

The raft race was the main event. They set off down the slipway, with father and son team Ray and Joss Lerwell claiming victory on The Blue Bullet. The winner of the junior race was Jerry Owen.

Round Table chairman Andrew Evans said: “The day was a huge success, not just for us as organisers but for Fishguard and Goodwick as a whole. It’s been fantastic being able to involve the Sea Cadets in the organising of the day.

“We would like to give a massive thank you to our event sponsors Stena Line. Without the support of businesses and organisations in our area it would be a lot harder for us to put on events like this.”
