CROWDS lined the streets of Pembroke Dock on Saturday to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

A parade left Pembroke Dock Community School at 10.30am and made its way to the Heritage Centre for a service of thanksgiving.

The parade was led by the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Borough Band and included representatives from the Royal British Legion, the Royal Signals from Brawdy, air cadets, sea cadets, girl guides and scouts.

Members of the public dressed up in period clothing and enjoyed looking around displays of military vehicles, stalls and displays.

The event had been organised by Pembroke Dock Town Council and Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust.

The town's mayor, Councillor Peter Kraus said: “I was overwhelmed by the amount of people who turned out to support Armed Forces Day. There were hundreds there and the weather was great.

“It was a perfect day from start to finish, and so much thanks goes to the people who helped organise it.”

Cllr Kraus added: “It’s so important that we keep Armed Forces Day going. The armed forces are so important to us in Britain.”

Armed Forces Day - held for the seventh time - is an opportunity for the nation to show support for its servicemen and women, from veterans to serving soldiers and their families.
