A DOCUMENTARY which follows Connie Fisher’s journey to regain her singing voice airs next Monday (July 6).

In 2006, Connie from Hayscastle won the talent contest How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria, and went on to star in the West End production of The Sound of Music.

But three years later she was told she would never sing again. Since then she has had three major operations, and although they helped for a short while, they were ultimately unsuccessful.

Connie Fisher: I’ll Sing Once More offers an exclusive view of the singer’s journey over the past few years, and her struggle to regain her voice with the help of Gary Catona, who bills himself as the "the world’s one and only voice re-builder".

Gary has been voice teacher to Whitney Houston, Andrea Boccelli and Liza Minelli.

Connie meets Gary in London – where he declares his belief that Connie has been “misdiagnosed” and says he can help rebuild her voice. This personally-authored documentary will follow Connie’s efforts to try to rebuild her voice through adopting Gary’s holistic, sometimes controversial, methods to see if she “will sing once more”.

The programme airs on BBC One Wales on July 6 at 9pm.
