JUNIOR musicians have been celebrating their sax-cess in the latest round of county music exams.
Eighty-four students from across Pembrokeshire were successful in the spring term exams, having been prepared by members of Pembrokeshire County Council’s music service.
Among those achieving the highest grades were Greenhill pupil Amy Taylor, who earned a Grade 8 distinction for flute; Gareth Davies, also of Greenhill, earning Grade 8 merit trinity for alto sax; and Cara Watson of Sir Thomas Picton School, Grade 8 distinction for French horn.
Greenhill pupil James Crowney-Richards earned Grade 6 merit trinity for alto sax, James Hope, of Ysgol y Preseli, achieved Grade 5 distinction in voice, and Hannah Moulder of Tasker Milward School achieved Grade 5 merit for violin.
And enjoying exam success for the first time by achieving Grade 1 distinctions were Catrin Fletcher, of Broad Haven School, flute; Lottie Howlett-John, St Mary’s RC, flute; Daisy Whitfield, Narberth, cello; Lewis Fisher, Ysgol Dewi Sant, violin; Seren Thorne, Wolfscastle, violin; Myer Cresswell, Milford Haven Juniors, clarinet; and Nia Llewellyn, Neyland, baritone.
Preparing students for their exams were county music teachers Colin Barrett, Miranda Barrett, Sarah Benbow, Stuart Evans, Chris Gillatt, Sharalyn Jenkins, Hilary Lewis, Sian Lowe, Philippa Roberts, Christopher Llewellyn, Gareth Sanders-Swales, Kevin Shanklin, Joanne Underwood, and Rebecca Whitehurst.
