POOCHES of all shapes and sizes were on parade at Roch Village Fete last Saturday (July 25).

The fun dog show has been the focal point of the annual event since SPPOT (Supporting People and Pets through Opportunity and Training) took over its running a few years ago.

Locals and visitors came out in their hundreds to support the fete, which was opened by the leader of the council, Councillor Jamie Adams and blessed with glorious sunshine.

The day’s attractions included stalls, welly wanging, plate smashing, bouncy castles, cream teas, a beer tent and BBQ.

Around 60 dogs competed in the dog show and the list of winners are: Best treat catcher, Henry with Milly; fastest dog in Roch, Banjy with Sue; fastest sausage eater, Holly with Holly; dogstacle race, Crumble with Ned; best trick, Crumble with Ned, best long coat, Cal with Allana; best short coat, Ruby with Monique; most radiant rescue, Bryn with Dave; best puppy, Buddy with Debbie and Olly; waggiest tail, Mali with Carol Ann.

The best in show prize, as voted by SPPOT volunteers and dog walkers, was Cal, the Irish Red Setter.

Susan Scarr, Volunteer Director for SPPOT said: “We had another fantastic day with lots of happy dogs, happy people and a wonderful team effort by SPPOT's volunteers.

“Thanks to everyone who took part and came along to support us.”
