YSGOL Bro Gwaun’s former deputy head girl was among hundreds of young achievers to be invited to St James’ Palace last month.
Simran Mann from Goodwick travelled to London to be presented with her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award from The Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward.
She worked through the five sections of the programme over two years to achieve the Gold standard, culminating in a week-long expedition in Lochaber in Scotland in August 2013.
Simran thoroughly enjoyed participating in the DofE activities, which have allowed her to develop a number of valuable skills needed for life, such as teamwork and decision making.
Currently studying dentistry at Bristol University, Simran was recently awarded the 2015 Alumni Academic Achievement Award to a Year 1 Dentistry Student, which goes to two top first year students from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
This was in addition to the 2015 Year 1 Award, which is awarded to the Year 1 student who achieved the highest overall average from their end of unit exams.
