Nearly £4,500 has been raised for the renovation of Withybush's Ward 10, following last month's bungee jump off the Cleddau Bridge.

One of the causes chosen by the bridge jumpers was Elly's Ward 10 Flag. The fund was set up by five-year-old Elly Neville earlier this year to raise funds for "patient experience" in the refurbished Ward Ten.

This means the fund will be used to provide cushions, blankets and other touches of home to future cancer patients on Withybush's refurbished Ward 10.

The cause is close to Elly's heart; her father, Lyn, was a patient at the Chemotherapy Day Unit (CDU) and Ward 10 after a bone marrow transplant in 2005.

Elly had raised £3,632 since May through raffling the flag and by taking part in other fundraising events.

The total raised by the flag currently stands at more than £8,000 after the brave bridge bungee jumpers raised a further £4,438, with a bit more cash still to be collected.

Elly and her parents Lyn and Ann spent the Bungee off the Bridge weekend at Hobbs Point, supporting the 13 jumpers who did their bit to raise cash for their cause. The family also ran two raffles, with prizes donated by local businesses, which raised a further £186.

"This is a huge amount which will make a real difference to patients on Ward 10," said Elly's mum Ann Neville.

"We'd like to thank Pembroke Dock Regeneration Team for putting on such a fabulous event and choosing Elly's Ward 10 Flag as one of the main charities supported.

"It was a fabulous weekend which showed a great community spirit and we can't thank the jumpers enough for their fundraising efforts and bravery."
