A FISHGUARD hair salon is the latest local business to receive post from a mystery poet.

Last week the Western Telegraph reported that Donna Lewis of Upper Cuts, Haverfordwest, had been left puzzled after receiving three hand written poems.

Verses written in silver pen on black card and signed by ‘M Jones’ or ‘the composer Mark Jones’ have been sent to other hairdressers in the North East, Lancashire and Gwynedd.

A church in Gateshead and a hotel in Aberystwyth have also received poems by the same author, who always writes “keep your chin up, keep smiling” at the bottom of the page.

The envelopes containing the poems all have a Lancashire postmark.

Eilir Miles is the latest person to be targeted by the untraceable bard. Two poems have been sent to her salon on West Street, Fishguard in the past fortnight.

Eilir, who is a friend of Donna’s said: “I received the first one on October 1. I picked it up off the floor, opened it and thought what on earth is this?

“It was very personal so I hid it in case my husband thought I was having an affair!

“The second one arrived a week later and it wasn’t as bad.”

Asked what she plans to do with the poems, Eilir said: “I’m going to hold onto them. Perhaps he’s a famous poet and perhaps they’ll be worth something in time.”

In the meantime they are proving to be popular reading material among her customers.
