THE A40 was closed in both directions for five hourse yesterday (March 22) after a crash involving three vehicles.

Western Telegraph traffic update reported that the crash took place between A4066 Tenby Road / A477 (St Clears Roundabout) and B4328 (Llanboidy Roundabout).

A diversion was in place via the A477 to Kilgetty, then A478 to the Penblewin Roundabout.

A Dyfed Powys Police spokesman said: “Police are in attendance at a three vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 10.20am this morning (March 22) on the A40 just outside Whitland.

"A dark green Vauxhall Astra, travelling west, and a blue Toyota and a black Ford Focus, both  travelling east, were involved in the collision.

"Two people have been taken to hospital by ambulance.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who saw the vehicles travelling on the road prior to the collision, is asked to contact Carmarthenshire Roads Policing unit on 101.”

The road reopened at roughly 3.30pm yesterday afternoon.
