MORE than £350 has been raised for Cancer Research UK, in memory of local musician and journalist Adam Barrah.

Rose Fowler, from Aberystwyth, completed the Cardiff Half Marathon recently, to raise money for her former colleague, who died in January, aged 36.

Rose worked alongside Adam at the Cambrian News, where he was a sub-editor.

Rose said: “I felt compelled to run the IAAF Cardiff Half marathon after feeling very shocked and upset by Adam’s sudden death to cancer.

“The only way to express my feelings and sentiment for Adam was by putting on my running shoes and raising some money in his memory."

Adam, from Dinas Cross, was a talented musician, who wrote and recorded his own material, as well as performing with Hokusai, Surreptitious Fabric, and indie-pop band OK.

He also worked as a sub-editor at the Western Telegraph, Cypriot newspaper Cyprus Today, and the Cambrian News.

Described by friends and family as ‘a beautiful man’, a ‘true friend’ and ‘one of the best’, he faced his short battle with cancer with “bravery, wit and care for others.”

In 2015, before he was diagnosed with cancer, Adam also raised money for Cancer Research UK by taking part in a 'dryathlon'.
