A MILFORD HAVEN man has been cleared of raping a woman invited to spend the weekend at his flat.

Graham Alfred Davies, aged 55, was also found not guilty of an allegation of sexual assault on the same woman.

Davies had always denied the allegations.

The verdicts came after a short trial at Swansea Crown Court.

Ian Wright, prosecuting, had alleged that during the first night the woman woke to find Davies had put his hand down her knickers.

The following night, it was alleged, she again went to bed fully clothed and woke in the middle of the night to find that Davies had pulled down her jeans and knickers and was having intercourse with her.

Davies agreed that before the weekend he had not expected anything sexual to happen.

He had used a sofa as a bed and allowed the visitor to sleep in his bed.

But during the second night he felt cold and got into his own bed.

He said that later there was some kissing and cuddling, which led to sexual intercourse with her consent.

Davies said the earlier incident complained of had never happened.

Davies now works in England and gave his address as Sawyers Close, Windsor, near London.
