THERE was a wheely great welcome in Tenby at the weekend for the Welsh National Scooter Rally.

Around 1,000 scooters converged on the resort from all over the UK, with some riders travelling from as far afield as Belgium.

Tenby has been an important date on the national scooter rally calender since the 1990s and is one of eight national rallies.

A sunshine ride-out to Cresswell Quay was enjoyed by some of the enthusiasts on Saturday afternoon, with Sunday’s rainy weather seeing them socialising inside many local hostelries and at the end-of-rally party at Tenby Rugby Club.

A custom show and parts fair was held in the De Valence Pavilion, which was also the venue for two sell-out band nights.

Two retro dj nights at Tenby Rugby Club also proved hugely popular.

“It was a great weekend, and Tenby made us really welcome, which was very much appreciated by all the rally-goers,” said Paul Reeves from the South Wales Scooter Collective.
