North Pembrokeshire musician and songwriter, Jasmine Power, is hitting all the right notes, after singing tracks from her debut EP, Stories and Rhymes, on Jamie Cullum's inaugural Live from Maida Vale show.

Jasmine, who hails from north Pembrokeshire, is currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London, as well as playing to packed out houses with her band.

She credits a school life of singing and her family's involvement with the Fishguard Jazz Festival with giving her a good musical grounding and setting her on her chosen path.

Since its vinyl release last year Stories and Rhymes has gained significant air play and garnered rave reviews. Most recently from the UK's most successful jazz artist and Grammy award winner, Jamie Cullum.

On the Live from Maida Vale show Jasmine performed live the title track form her EP, and another song, Late Hours.

Jamie described Jasmine's work as "beautiful" and "awesome" and praised her skills as a singer/ songwriter as well as asking her about her writing process.

"It was exciting to meet Jamie after all these years of listening to his brilliant BBC Radio 2 show," said Jasmine.

"It was slightly nerve-wracking singing live on radio. I was thrilled to be performing at the legendary Maida Vale Studios live with my wonderful band.

"It was a very different experience to anything I had done before. It's about finding the right balance between studio recording and performing live, because you don't have the audience in front of you yet you are performing to the world.

"The pressure was high knowing we only had one take."

Jasmine plans to hit the recording studio in New York later this year as well as work on future music videos.

"The response to Stories and Rhymes has been really positive and exciting," she said. "I'm just thrilled to finally be sharing my music."
