The family of the 15 year-old Pembroke School pupil who died on Monday have paid tribute to him.

Luke Barzewicz-Dower died after an incident near to the school on Monday morning.

Today (Wednesday) his family said: "Luke’s family wish to pay tribute to a much loved son, grandson and brother.

"Luke had a heart of gold and will be much missed by everyone who loved him.

"We request privacy for our family at this sad time.”

Luke's school friends have been laying flowers, cards and memories of him in woodland near the school.

Yesterday, the school's headteacher, Frank Ciccotti, said that all pupils and staff were greatly saddened to learn of Luke's death.

“He was a well-regarded student who had many close friends” said Mr Ciccotti.

“He had a gentle character, polite and respectful, and was intelligent and articulate with the potential to achieve well. We will miss him very much.”

“Our sincere condolences go out to his friends and family. He is very much in our thoughts.”

Mr Ciccotti went on: “We have experienced support workers and counsellors available to talk to those who are most troubled, and we are very grateful for the support of the police, local authority and local churches in providing assistance.

“We are also trying to help students and staffs begin to cope with their loss through a series of special assemblies.

“The school is co-operating with the Coroner and his officers in their investigation into the circumstances of this tragic event.
