The community has shown "overwhelming support" for a new skate park at Lota Park, helping raise around £800 at the first fundraiser.

The concert at St Mary's Church, Fishguard, on May 18 included performers from seven to 18 years of age and was compered by Cllr Huw George.

It featured Goodwick Junior Brass Band, choirs from both Fishguard junior and secondary schools, Bro Gwaun Jazz Band, percussionist Dafydd Ridgeway, performers from POINT and Ysgol Glannau Gwaun duet Megan & Ffion.

"It was terrific, really lovely," said Cllr Pat Davies who organised the event. "The church was full. We had an overwhelming response from the community.

"It was a successful concert by young people to raise money for young people and an opportunity to showcase what wonderful talent we have in our community.

"The young people in the area are clamouring for a new skate park.

"They have all been inspired by the developments in Haverfordwest, but they want a skate park on their doorstep. We must not let them down.

"A safe area needs to be provided for the young people in our community who skate board and use scooters and hopefully this can be achieved with the Lota Park Skate Park project."
