A sunshine soaked Saturday made for a great turnout and loads of fun at Letterston's annual carnival.

The day began with the crowning of the carnival king and queen on the village green. Carnival presidents Reg and Jean White handed the crowns to Carnival King, James Fegan and Queen, Samantha Harding. They were attended by Carnival Prince, Keegan James and Carnival Princesses, Lilly and Mckyla Phillips, Isabelle, Chantelle and Ella Hedley.

The colourful carnival procession was led to the Memorial Hall field by dancers from the West Wales Academy of Dance. Dancers aged from three to 16 meet twice a week at the hall.

On the carnival field West Wales Academy of Dance, Edupets' selection of reptiles and bugs and Singing for Fun, a popular singing group that meets regularly at the hall entertained the crowds.

The afternoon ended with a school six-a-side football match. Two teams each from Letterston Puncheston and Newport took part and the winners were Ysgol Bro Ingli's year 5 team from Newport.

Keith and Wendy Ellis judged the fancy dress competition. Winners were- Girl under five: caterpillar - Poppy Armstrong, Boy under five: Pirate - George Crettan, Girl under ten: Minnie Mouse - Libby Baskerville, Boy under ten: Elephant - Joshua Evans, Girl under 15: Giraffe - Kimberley Jo Davies Bowen, Boy under 15: Tim Peake - Iori Evans, Over 15: Duck - Adele Makintosh, Best pair: Pirate and Parrot - Emily and Eva, Best float: Joint winners Pirate Ship and Rumble in the Jungle.

The hall committee also held a fundraising raffle and thanked the local businesses that generously supplied the prizes as well as all those that attended and supported the carnival.
