Letterston looked at the world from a local, international and astrological perspective last weekend at the village's third flower festival, along with a host of other attractions, was held in the Memorial Hall.

The event incorporated an exhibition, talks and tours of an astrodome, as well as stunning floral arrangements from the North Pembrokeshire floral art society on a global theme.

On Sunday it also incorporated a craft fair and a magical history tour of the village and surrounding areas. Daily talks with local historians also proved very popular.

The event was inspired by Tim Peake's recent space mission as well as the popular astronomy club that meets monthly at Letterston Memorial Hall and has been hailed an "overwhelming success".

Local schools also contributed to the space theme, creating an impressive array of 3D models for a school craft competition.

In the group competition Ysgol Casmael and Ysgol Casblaidd were joint winners in category 1 and Ysgol Geryllan and Ysgol Casmael in Category 2.

In the year one to three age group: Finley Fells, from Holy Name Fishguard came first and Ethan Hall, from Ysgol Glannau Gwaun came 2nd.

Ethan Tyrer and Tom Edwards Years came joint first in the years four to six category, and Ruby Morse came second, all are pupils at Ysgol Glannau Gwaun.

"It has been a wonderful community event with something to suit everyone," said chair of the hall committee Gareth Evans.

"I found the astrodome fascinating and it has increased my knowledge on our solar system. Our display of old photographs was a huge success and many people came back several times. It was lovely to hear them reminiscing about the good old days and it made all our hard work worthwhile."

He thanked the sponsors and people who supported the event on behalf of the committee.
