PEMBROKE Dock is once again expected to become a Mecca for adrenaline junkies during October when thrill-seekers have a chance to take part in the extreme sport bungee jumping from the Cleddau Bridge, while raising money for local charities.

The 150 foot high toll bridge will be the setting for the two day spectacular which aims to attract 260 thrill seekers daring enough to jump or abseil over the edge.

Last year £22,000 was raised for various charities by the 109 jumpers who took part during the first-ever Bungee off the Bridge event.

Those taking part this year, will again have the option of collecting sponsors for their chosen cause.

Anyone wishing to keep their feet firmly on the ground, but would like to soak up the atmosphere will find viewing areas set up in Pembroke Dock, including a live stream on a big screen at Hobbs Point.

The Cleddau Bridge is currently the only bridge in Wales that you can bungee jump from.

Bungee off the Bridge is organised by volunteers from Pembroke Dock Regeneration Team, alongside the UK Bungee Club, and with financial support from Pembrokeshire County Council.

James Parfitt, who organised the event last year as part of the Pembroke Dock Regeneration team said: “We’re really excited to be able to bring this event to the town for a second year. Last September was so successful we are confident to go ahead again and grow the idea by adding the abseil as an alternative option to the jump.

“There is no reason that this event can’t grow year on year, attract visitors and provide a fantastic boost to the local economy. We’re excited to bring an element of real adventure to Pembroke Dock.”

The event will take place on October 15 and 16. See www.bungeeoffthebridge.wales for booking a jump or an abseil.
