It was the end of an era in Fishguard last week, as Wintern Day Centre closed its doors and the service was moved to Hillside Home, Goodwick.
Wintern, formerly a private house, opened in December, 1982, and provided a day centre as well as some office space for social care and health staff.
Around 30 customers and six staff have now been transferred to the recently refurbished Hillside Home in nearby Goodwick.
The occasion was marked by a party for staff and customers on Thursday afternoon.
“We have been taking the customers to Hillside over the past few weeks to get them used to their new environment” said the day centre’s manager, Sheila Beynon Mrs Beynon who retires next month.
Pembrokeshire County Councillor Simon Hancock, Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Health and Well-Being, stressed:
“It is important to remember that the service provided at Wintern will continue as before, just at another more modern, refurbished site. No jobs have been lost.”
A council spokesman said that the old building is likely to be declared surplus to requirements.
